John Silver – Creative & Managing Director
At Red House, John is the driving force behind all our creative output. From original ideas and conception, through formatting and production, John keeps busy doing what he knows and loves best: leading teams of good people in devising, creating and making great shows.
Prior to forming Red House in 2008, John was creative director for Features at Shine from 2004, where he devised and created the internationally successful cookery series/formats Masterchef and Celebrity Masterchef. He also originated many successful property formats including Build a New Life in the Country, Don’t Move, Improve and Nice House, Shame About the Garden, and was responsible for a range of other series and formats in areas as diverse as Cookery, Music, Weight Loss, Life Change, Fashion, and History, including Greatest Dishes in the World, Classical Star, The Biggest Loser, Paradise or Bust, Selling Yourself, Project Catwalk, and So You Think You’re a Royal.
Previously, John was responsible for Grand Designs, making the first 5 series, and for creating and executive producing many other popular and acclaimed series like Jamie’s Kitchen, Property Ladder, Life Laundry, Other Peoples’ Houses, Your Money or Your Life, House Doctor at Talkback Thames, where he was Head of Factual to 2003.
